WELCOME
Welcome to the
official website of the St. Marks Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Flotilla 1-2 is privileged to call the St. Marks area home. For many
years, the Flotilla used and maintained the St. Marks Lighthouse.
Originally constructed in 1829 by Winslow Lewis of Boston, the structure
continues to serve as a navigational beacon for Florida's Big Bend area.
The Flotilla used the lighthouse as its base of operations for its
marine radio services for the past 20 years.
Today, our Flotilla operates out of Auxiliary Station St. Marks (St.
Marks Voluntary fire Department), which is located on Shell Island Road.
Radio communications for the area is also provided by the Flotilla thru
our communications facility located on the grounds of the St. Marks
Wildlife Refuge. At this location, the Flotilla's radio tower rises
above the lighthouse on an existing fire tower.
Radio and patrol operations are performed every weekend during Florida's
peak boating season. We'll be sure to wave at you while we are on
patrol.
Please look around our site. We hope our resources are useful. If you
have any suggestions, or are interested in membership or would like to
have your boat inspected, please feel free to contact the Flotilla. Our
leadership team can be reached by email at:
